FEATURED NEW INK: All I Need Is Within Me.
We live in a world filled to the brim with impressive, tangible things. It is easy to fall into the trap of thinking that these external shiny objects are indeed necessary for us to feel good.
From this viewpoint, happiness is portrayed as something taking place from the outside in-- a way of thinking that only perpetuates the pursuit of happiness, which ironically, is the surest way to prevent ourselves from actually experiencing happiness. After all, how can we ever be truly happy if we are using the accumulation of external things as the basis of our satisfaction?
This framework will always leave us feeling as if we are lacking. Energy flows where attention goes. Placing our attention on what we lack only creates more lack and gives power to those things and experiences that we do not desire.
On the contrary, by choosing to focus on gratitude for what we already have, we are by default expanding the presence of such positive experiences and things and thus making space for more of these things to flow into our lives. This is because happiness occurs from the inside out. It is through the fostering of happiness within us that we are then able to attract external events that mirror our internal joy.
We humans are all-in-one packages. Once this sinks in, it becomes evident that the hunt for external things for the sake of happiness is unnecessary. Everything that we long for already resides within us.
