Our Energy is Talking—Are We Listening?

Energy is always speaking.
Not in words, but in feelings. In sensations. In subtle nudges.

The question is: are we listening?


Why Our Energy Matters

Before a thought even crosses our mind, before a word leaves our lips—our energy has already spoken. It shapes our choices, our actions, our relationships.

We can have the best intentions in the world, but if our energy is misaligned, life feels like pushing a boulder uphill. When our energy is in harmony, the same path feels like a downhill stroll.

That’s why learning to observe our energy in the moment is one of the most powerful practices we can cultivate.


Energy Shifts Constantly

Think of our energy like the weather. It changes. Sometimes sunny, sometimes cloudy, sometimes stormy.

If we only check in once a day, we’ll miss the shifts.
But when we observe our energy throughout the day, we start catching the signals:

  • That meeting that left us drained.

  • That conversation that lit us up.

  • That thought loop that tightened our chest.

  • That breath that released it.

This isn’t about judgment. It’s about awareness. And awareness opens the door to choice.


Becoming Aware of Our Default Energy

Here’s another layer to this practice: notice if the energy we feel throughout the day is familiar to us.

Most of us have a default energy setting—a feeling we fall back on, especially when things don’t go our way. For some, it’s frustration. For others, sadness. For others, anxiety.

When we catch ourselves in that familiar energy, we can pause and ask:

  • Why am I feeling this way?

  • What’s underneath this feeling?

  • When did I start to feel this way?

These questions bring light to the old patterns that often run unconsciously.

And once we’ve brought them into awareness, we can choose differently.
We can take a few deep breaths.
We can decide to let go of that default setting.

We can even say to ourselves:
“That was then. This is now. That was me. But this is me.”*

In that moment, we reclaim our power.


Tiny In-the-Moment Check-Ins

We don’t need to set aside hours for this. It’s about micro-moments. Tiny rituals woven into our day.

  • Pause Before We Respond
    Notice: What’s our energy right now? Are we tense or open?

  • Mirror Moments
    While washing our hands, ask: What are we carrying right now?

  • Conscious Ink Cues
    Each time we glimpse our Conscious Ink, let it remind us: Stop. Breathe. Observe.

  • Transitions
    Before jumping from one task to the next, ask: Where’s our energy? Do we need a reset?


Observation Itself Is Medicine

Here’s the beauty: we don’t have to fix our energy. Just noticing it changes it.

When we notice heaviness, we create space for lightness.
When we notice chaos, we invite calm.
When we notice flow, we amplify it.

The very act of listening shifts the song.


Living as the Observer

When we practice observing our energy in real time, we stop being tossed around by moods, stress, or circumstance.

Instead of being the storm, we become the sky holding it all. Spacious. Unmoved. Aware.

From that place, every choice we make is clearer. Every interaction more intentional. Every day, more aligned.


Closing

Our energy is always talking.
The only question is: will we pause long enough to listen?

Because the moment we listen, we shift.
And the moment we shift, we begin to create a life that flows.
