The meaning

What an Om tattoo means

The sound at the root of things, worn on the skin.

Om is the sound many practices begin and end with, understood as the vibration underlying everything. It is simple, sacred, and quietly worn.

Good to know

Questions, answered

What does an “Om” tattoo in Sanskrit mean?

Om is held in Hindu and yogic traditions as the primordial sound, the vibration underlying everything. Worn in its Sanskrit form, it marks stillness and connection, a reminder of the quiet that sits beneath the noise of a day.

Where do people wear an “Om” tattoo?

The inner forearm, wrist, or just below the neck are common, where it stays near the breath during practice. Many apply it before meditation or yoga as a small cue to arrive and settle.

Where does the “Om” symbol come from?

It traces to the ancient Vedic texts of India and appears across Hindu, Buddhist, and yogic practice. The written Sanskrit character carries that lineage, which is why many wear it as a mark of practice rather than decoration.

How long does it last?

Each Conscious Ink tattoo lasts 3 to 7 days on average, based on application, placement, skin type, and activity level.

Is it safe for my skin?

Yes. Conscious Ink are non-toxic, vegan, and cruelty-free, made in the USA with cosmetic-grade, FDA-certified inks. People with very sensitive skin or an adhesive allergy should avoid wearing them.
